Around the World in 80 Seconds – December

A short review of carp fishing catches from anglers using our baits around the world.

Here’s some of the best Dynamite catches recorded around the world in the month of December:

GERMANY

The first catch we’ll take a look at from around the world in December is from Germany. A few hours fishing on the syndicate was all Emir Caro needed to bank an incredible brace of 40lb carp! The mirror was impressive at 41lb but this was eclipsed by a 48lb common an hour or two into darkness!

Due to the drop in temperature, Emir opted for a Sweet Tiger & Corn approach, with a snowman rig (15mm bottom bait with 15mm pop-up topper) fished over a bed of pellets and crushed boilies doing the trick…

SLOVENIA

It doesn’t matter how cold it gets, if you have a bait in the water you can catch a carp!

Krištof Cuderman kept the belief and managed to bank this 23.1kg mirror despite the freezing, snowy conditions. A snowman rig made from a Spicy Shrimp & Prawn boilie with a Tutti-Frutti pop-up proved too appetising for this fat specimen to resist!

ITALY

Italian carper Thomas Santandrea had a cracking run whilst fishing local carp fisheries in December and managed to slip his net under these three specimens. He trialled Source, Red-Amo and Mulberry Plum boilies and got a result using each!

CZECH REPUBLIC

Radek Bis’ campaign on his local stretch of the River Elbe continued to produce the good in early December. Just like his other reports, all four fish again fell to the 20mm Carptec Plum boilies! It’s our budget range of bait but it certainly packs a punch!

UNITED KINGDOM

As the going pegs on Wraysbury were taken, Ian Russell decided on a trip to Horton’s K1 and set up in the RH Point Swim after seeing a carp show.

Guessing it would be a night time feeding spell as the water was so clear, he took his time and positioned three Fluro Pineapple & Banana pop-ups on size 6 Carp Spirit Beak Point stiff hinge rigs at varying distances.

Just as the clock struck midnight the middle rod was away and he was able to scoop up this incredible 39lb mirror following a 20-minute tussle. Mega result!

Christmas certainly came early for Harry Keys!

Mid December he paid a visit to Linear’s B1 and ended up landing three golden specimens of 27lb, 33lb and a new PB at 36lb (top). Maggot-flossed 12mm Yellow Hit N Runs and Carp Spirit Medium Curves in size fours did the business!

Where catch reports in December are concerned, this one from Dan Cleary was right up there!

He told us: “I’d been baiting a swim on a local club water every three of four days for the last 3 weeks with 15mm Monster Tiger Nut boilies, and at the end of the first week the tactic brought me my first bite in the shape of a 23lb mirror.

Due to work commitments however, I was unable to return for another session until this weekend (1st weekend of Dec), but I still kept the bait going in regularly. I arrived at the lake on a dark and miserable Friday morning to find the lake devoid of anglers.

I set up and got my rigs in position but by Saturday morning the tufties and coots cleared out the baits. I topped up the spots with a few catapults of MTN after dark that evening and settled in my bivvy in anticipation of a run.

During the early hours I received a liner and a few knocks before a proper take at 6am where this carp tore off 70-80 yards of line on its initial run! I soon got her under control however and led the fish into the net without incident to be greeted by the largest known resident in the lake.

It was a fish called the ‘Italian’ and weighed-in at a new lake and club record of 46lb 4oz! What a result in December – it was by far my largest winter carp!

She fell to a 15mm MTN pop-up tied to a 360 rig and cast 30 yards to a clear silt channel…”

A week before Christmas Jack Lamb managed to squeeze in a couple of nights on the bank down at Grenvilles.

Although the fishing was tough, Jack still managed to winkle out a bite in the shape of this 29lb mirror.

He fished a 12mm Yellow Hit N Run pop-up over a bed of chopped and whole MTN and White Chocolate and Coconut Cream boilies in various sizes, all of which were soaked in the matching liquid
