Dynamite’s Rycroft Fishery Specimen Lake Staff Social
Dynamite’s Operations Manager Dave Spence reports on the latest staff social – this time at Rycroft Fishery in Derbyshire…
This year seven of us were booked onto the specimen lake at Rycroft Fishery to battle it out in the annual staff social!
Andy Rockley was first off the mark with a lovely 21lb common on a solid bag across to the far margin in the centre of the lake only a couple of hours after getting the rods out. A Peppered Squid bottom bait was the successful hookbait of choice.
My half hearted attempt with Zigs failed to produce the goods even though there were a few fish seen cruising just bellow the surface.
I took a walk around and noticed a few shadows patrolling the far margin tree line. 3 solid bags were quickly tied up with added Shrimp Extract and Evo Smoked Salmon Oil. Complex-T wafters or Pink Hit N Run wafters were my hookbaits of choice as usual.
All three rods were positioned across the left and far margin and all 3 rods produced a bite and a landed fish within the next few hours!
I ended my session short but with 6 bites and 5 fish landed I was more than happy with the result. A couple of crazy ghosties amongst them and a 22lb 10oz common being the best of the bunch.
Just as I was leaving, Tom Roberts had lost two fish to hook pulls, but as I pulled out the gate, his persistence paid off with a lovely clean common.
Over all a nice chilled weekend with mates and colleagues at Rycroft Fishery and a very tasty Chinese take away in the evenings added to the pleasure!
